VOLUNTEERS BIOGRAPHY
We are four dudes with unrealistic dreams. With the odds piled up against us like tons of refuse, we have chosen to persevere, and to carve out our place through our music.
One of us just got out of rehab. Most of us get stoned on the daily. One of us has a Shi-Tszu. One of us is married. One divorced. One of us is addicted to sex. One is a virgin. One of us owns a home. One of us is homeless. One is just along for the ride.
All of us love music more than life itself.
In the last six months we have done tons of shows across the country. We have played for hundreds of screaming fans singing along to our songs. We've been ripped off at gigs and played for no one. We toured in a 1979 van which we lovingly dubbed "Betty the Sock", which finally met her demise late one night in New Jersey after a bad gig. We just got a brand new van, which feels like home.
Now on a national tour, and with few hard earned successes adding up, including headlining Berklee's SXSW party, having our music placed on MTV and Oxygen Networks, and being recognized as the first ever High Times Unsigned Band of the Month, we now look forward to the future... where hopefully all of us will sober up in time to get stoned, have sex, get married, get divorced, own a home, and then burn it down... all while listening and rocking out to great music.
We Are Volunteers...
Our album "Spectrophilia" was recorded at Monsterland Studio in Brooklyn, with Producer Paul Mahajan (Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, TV on the Radio, The National).
